Hey, Jace? I just woke up from a two week stint asleep and Alec's not answering. Everything okay?

It must be some kind of epidemic. Alec has been asleep since the start of the month too. He hasn't woken up yet.

Wonderful. Better than the alternative, I guess. I woke up to find my boss had killed my boyfriend.

I guess. I need him to come the fuck back so I can stop worrying.

Wait... Hope is your boss?

Sort of. I sing and play there on an 'as needed' kind of basis. I kind of have a few different jobs around town. Including private eye. But she was definitely Michael's boss.

He should be fine. I was. Just living life back home in Roswell. While also simultaneously being here in the city. Somehow.

Huh. Yeah. I told her I'd go bartend for her while she looked for... uh, someone new.

Yeah, problem is I know what he's living through right now and fine is going to be... pretty subjective if he remembers it all.

If he remembered it all then, he's going to remember it all now. The only question is how much of it is he going to live through. I've seen time jumps of months but I also just lived through the last three years back in Roswell.

Yeah, I was out two days and went through two years, so... I don't know. I guess I'll find out if when he wakes up.

I kind of hope he at least gets to see his own wedding.

Also, how bad are we talking? You don't have to share what you don't want to, but he's still my friend and he was there for me when I was having a bit of a crisis.

Well. He was still in the closet back home, then he almost marries some girl, but Magnus interrupts the wedding and then he has to deal with his parents and the Clave. He gets possessed and kills someone. He almost loses his sister to vampire venom addiction. I turn into a murderous greater demon's minion and almost kill him.

It's a shitshow, Alex. Now you know why I prefer to stay here.

Hey, look. We might have fewer demons back home, but shitshows are pretty universal. My dad forced me into the closet and sent me away to war. And then, when I get back, kept doing the best he could to ruin my life again until he finally was about to commit genocide, killing the remainder of an entire species. On Earth, at least.

My brother ended up killing him. But. A year later and things were good. Or at least better.

Actually. You ever notice how many... like, not ordinary people that this city picks up? For a place that's just about the sex, they could pick up way more ordinary people, without gifts or powers or abilities, or whatever, and they'd have way less hassle. Anyways.

Maybe. I just want him to get up. It's almost Christmas. Leave it to him to nap until its present time.

Hey. Completely human here. Most of the people from my world are. Or were when they got here. Except Michael. But I know what you mean. There are a lot of people here with powers that should upset the status quo and never seems to.

You just know it's his excuse not to have to go Christmas shopping, right?

...which reminds me. Damn. I'm going to have to do all my shopping in, like, the next week. Or maybe everyone will get their presents for New Year's. Got any ideas for Alec when he wakes up?

Yeah. That whole thing with the portals a couple of weeks ago. Bunch of people who should, by all reason, be able to bust out of here, and they still couldn't. But like, if they didn't pick those people up, they wouldn't have to guard against it? I don't know. Strategically, it doesn't make sense. But that's probably asking too much from this place.

Ugh. Probably. If he thinks that means he gets out of it, he's in for a rude awakening. He's gonna owe me TWO presents now.

Uh, honestly at this rate, I was going to just get him one of those super old fashioned nightcaps. Anything involving archery, or kittens, probably? Hobbies aren't exactly something we grew up with.
