I don't know if it's the same in your version of our world, but same-sex relationships between Shadowhunters isn't ... encouraged. It's not wrong, or immoral, but it doesn't breed more Shadowhunters. Messing around with the Downworlders is one thing, but again, that dilutes bloodlines.
